Workshops

Looking for a great program for your school, religious institution, library, bookstore, or museum?

Origami and pop-up workshops bring people together to learn to make something with their own hands, away from digital devices.

My workshops are custom tailored to your group, no matter the size, age, or experience

Pop-up making workshops

Origami workshops

My origami workshops include:

"Stori-gami" - I tell a story that mirrors the folding action, and then have the group fold the model. Stori-gami not only engages audiences, but helps them remember the steps when it’s their turn to fold.

Guess the model - I show a sheet of unfolded paper and ask the group what it becomes when folded. With each guess, I restore another set of folds.

Unbelievable origami - I bring and show models that people find hard to believe are made from paper that's only folded, with no cuts or glue. Some of the models can be manipulated in surprising ways.

My pop-up making workshops include:

Simple pop-up techniques - I teach different pop-up techniques using only cutting and folding, to make talking animals, and animated scenes with multiple elements.

Pop-up cards - Participants make pop-up cards using characters and objects from my pop-up books.

Uncommon forms - I teach how to construct pop-up staircases, exploding stars, and other unusual shapes.

Origami Zoom Workshop (ongoing)

I coordinate a monthly origami workshop, Pacific Ocean Paperfolders (POP), that meets online via Zoom from 1-3 PM Pacific Time. Folders of all ages and experience levels are welcome, and it’s free of charge. For details, go to the OrigamiUSA calendar.
